Training Course Completion

  • On completion of this training participants will be able to:
  • Understand the need for reporting near misses and accidents
  • Be aware of DSE hazards and the need for good ergonomic risk management.
  • Describe the training requirements for staff.
  • Identify common office hazards like slips, trips, falls, electrical hazards, fire hazards.
  • Explain emergency procedures, including fire safety, evacuation plans, first aid, and reporting accidents.

Hazards & Risks in the Office Environment?

Electrical Hazards

When working with any electrical equipment, there are hazards which must be controlled, and staff need to be made aware of. 
The main hazards in regard to electrical equipment are fire and electrocution.

Office Equipment & Ergonomics

Some office equipment will have moving parts, which can pose a risk of entanglement.
The use of Display Screen Equipment and office workstations can pose a risk of musculoskeletal disorders, when ergonomic factors are not taken into account, and shared equipment is not adjustable to suit individual workers.

Slips, Trips & Falls

Slips trips and falls account for around 17% of reported workplace injuries, and in Ireland 20% of those involved in a slip, trip or fall in the workplace, will spend up to 4 weeks off work.
