Cardiac First response Course (PHECC Community Level)

Completion of this 4 hour PHECC accredited course will give trainees with the skills needed to help someone suffering a cardiac arrest or other life threatening emergency.

Course Contents:

  • The Chain of Survival image of Cardiac First response Chain of Survival
  • CPR
  • AED
  • CPR & AED for Children
  • Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (choking)
  • Recovery Position
  • Infant CPR & Chocking
  • Stroke
  • Heart Attack
  • Team Resuscitation
  • Patient Handover

On completion of this course a CFR Community responder will be able to demonstrate how to:

  • Assess a patient who has collapsed
  • Call the Emergency Medical Services
  • Perform CPR on an Adult, Child & Infant
  • Recognise the signs of a choking patient ( Adult, Child and Infant) and use the appropriate techniques to clear the airway.
  • Place an unconscious patient who is breathing in the Recovery Position
  • Use an AED safely
  • Recognise the signs of a heart attack and give aspirin to the patient
  • Carry out a FAST assessment for a patient who may be having a stroke

Trainees receive a PHECC Red Card, a CFR Community Student Handbook and a CFR face mask. A PHECC certificate which lasts for two years.
