Fire Safety Awareness:

Managing Fire Safety must be a priority in all places of work and in every home. House fires cause 30 – 40 deaths per year in Ireland. Many businesses will never recover from the loss of assets and damage to property as a result of a fire in the workplace. Fires started by arsonists are a major cause of fires in Irish homes and in places of work, but a simple Fire Risk Assessment can highlight potential fire hazards such as bad housekeeping which often provides an opportunity for arson.

With hazards identified fire prevention controls can be implemented. Relevant to the home, the workplace and any premises, our Fire Safety Course gives trainees the knowledge, skills and attitude to be able to deal with fire safely, identify hazards, perform a fire risk assessment and put fire prevention measures in place.

Avoiding static postures:

Static postures or static loading refers to physical exertion in the same posture or position for long periods of time. Static postures should be avoided because this type of exertion puts increased loads or forces on the muscles and tendons. This increasing of loads contributes to fatigue. This occurs because not moving impedes the flow of blood needed to bring nutrients to the muscles and remove the waste products of muscle metabolism. Examples of static postures include gripping tools that cannot be put down, holding the arms out or up to perform tasks, or standing in one place for long periods.
